
2026 Farm Crew
Breadseed is looking for two people to join us in our sixth growing season. You will join farm owners-managers Kayleigh and Doug in all aspects of managing a successful one acre market garden. We are looking to hire one full time farm crew and one part time farm crew/farmers market assistant to round out our five person farm team.

Days/Hours
Hours Spring/Fall 8am - 4pm
(one hour paid lunch)
Summer 7am-3pm
Monday-Friday, plus one Saturday per month
Payment: starting at $17 per hour, paid biweekly
General Responsibilities
You will be involved in all aspects of our no-till market garden, and will be trained on all tasks. We work together as a team on most tasks, while some tasks will be self directed. Duties including; harvest, wash/pack, high tunnel management, flowers, greenhouse, irrigation, etc. In the off-season we will provide you with a field map and overview of our crop plan.
Areas of Work
Greenhouse work: seeding, potting on, growing microgreens
Field work: planting, cultivating, harvesting, bed preparation, fertilizing, broadforking, composting
Wash-Pack: washing, packing for CSA, wholesale, farmers market prep
High Tunnels: Technical growing of ginger, tulips late winter/early spring crops, summer crops, training and trellising of tomatoes, cucumbers
Irrigation: installing, monitoring, executing Flowers: seeding, planting, harvesting, arranging
Weekly schedule (peak season example)
Monday AM Harvest greens, wash/pack cultivating, cut flowers 8am-12pm
Monday PM Harvest (dry goods), tunnel work; pruning, trellising 1pm-4pm
Tuesday AM Wholesale and CSA harvest 8-10am, Wash/Pack 10pm-12pm
Tuesday PM Cultivation, bed turnovers, deliveries 1pm-4pm
Wednesday AM Harvest, CSA pack, field projects, cut flowers 9am-12pm
Wednesday PM Harvest (dry goods) field projects 1pm-4pm.
Thursday AM Roots harvest for weekend markets, wash and pack 8am-12pm
Thursday PM Bed prep; broadfork, fertilize, compost, greenhouse work 1pm-4pm
Friday AM Greens harvest, wash and pack for weekend markets. flower bouquets 8am-12pm
Friday PM Wash/pack, greenhouse 1pm-4pm
Workplace Culture
Each work day starts at 7:50am (6:50am in the summer) with a morning meeting detailing what needs to be done that day.
Cell Phones: please keep use to a minimum in the field.
Lunch: You are welcome to go home for lunch or we will have space in the barn for your personal items and lunch.
